A straighter smile can provide the perfect foundation for cosmetic dental treatment. After this patient completed orthodontic treatment with his orthodontist, he visited Harte Dental to refine the appearance of his smile.
Completing His Smile After Orthodontic Treatment
Orthodontic treatment successfully improved the positioning and alignment of his teeth. Once that phase was complete, our team used chairside composite esthetic veneers to enhance the shape, proportions, and overall symmetry of the visible teeth.
Composite veneers—also called composite bonding—are created by carefully applying tooth-colored resin directly to the teeth. The material is shaped, contoured, and polished by the dentist to complement the patient’s natural smile.
Why We Chose Chairside Composite Veneers
For the right patient, chairside composite veneers can improve:
- Uneven or irregularly shaped teeth
- Small gaps between teeth
- Worn or chipped edges
- Differences in tooth length or proportion
- Minor discoloration
- The overall balance of a smile
Unlike porcelain veneers, composite veneers are completed directly in the dental office. Treatment is typically conservative and may require little or no removal of natural tooth structure, depending on the individual case.
A Natural-Looking Result
Our goal was not to make every tooth look identical. We wanted to create a balanced, natural-looking smile that complemented the alignment achieved through orthodontic treatment.
By carefully selecting the composite shade and shaping each restoration by hand, we were able to enhance his smile while preserving its natural character. The final result demonstrates how orthodontics and cosmetic dentistry can work together to create a confident, harmonious smile.
Considering Composite Veneers or Dental Bonding?
If you have completed orthodontic treatment but would still like to improve the shape, size, or symmetry of your teeth, chairside composite veneers may be an option. Every smile is different, so a consultation is necessary to determine the most appropriate treatment.

Individual results vary. The patient consented to the use of before-and-after photographs. A dental examination is required to determine whether composite veneers are appropriate for you.
